The Society of Toxicology 55th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo offers stimulating lectures and presentations on scientific breakthroughs, important education and professional training opportunities, and time to connect with friends and create new collaborations.

In the last decade, the growth of the biotech sector in the Italian-speaking Switzerland has become increasingly important for the economy of the region and for the surrounding scientific environment. In order to discover and have a deeper look on the evolving scientific and industrial framework of Ticino Canton, the next TEDD event will be held in Lugano, hosted by Cardiocentro Ticino and the Swiss Institute for Regenerative Medicine. During the event, speakers from the academic, clinical and industrial sector of the region will present their activities and will discuss the ways in which they can connect and collaborate with other partners. Likewise, participants will have the opportunity to visit SIRM Laboratories, have a direct contact with research groups sharing information about methods and research activities.

82. Jahrestagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für experimentelle und klinische Pharmakologie und Toxikologie (DGPT) und 18. Jahrestagung der Klinischen Pharmakologie (VKliPha). Abstract- und Postereinreichung bis 15. November 2015. Ziel der Jahrestagung ist es, neueste Entwicklungen und Erkenntnisse in der Pharmakologie, der klinischen Pharmakologie und der Toxikologie darzustellen und dem wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs ein Forum zur Darstellung eigener wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse zu bieten. In bewährter Weise wird es Hauptvorträge mit international bekannten Sprechern, für alle Teilgesellschaften relevante wissenschaftliche Symposien, eine Poster- und eine Industrieausstellung geben. „Advanced Courses“ bieten die Möglichkeit der Weiterbildung auf einem speziellen Gebiet. Die offizielle Konferenzsprache ist Deutsch, ausgewählte Vorträge werden in Englisch gehalten.  

This workshop will present and discuss the new Good Read-across Practice guidance and other current initiatives for the benefit of past and future REACH registrants. Key speakers will include Nick Ball (Dow), Mark Cronin (Liverpool John Moores University), and CAAT’s Thomas Hartung. Topics will cover the 2016 Good Read-across practice guidance, Ambit tool, Seurat-1 case studies, EUToxRisk21, and the ECHA Read-across Assessment Framework (RAAF).

This course is part of the DGPT Modular Training Programme in Toxicology and provides a broad overview on the organ systems of interest as well as standard tests to investigate drug effects on these systems. Each organ system will be introduced before detailed information on the safety pharmacology aspects is provided. Integration of Safety Pharmacology findings in an overall risk assessment will be demonstrated. Concordance data and case reports will provide the evidence how meaningful pre-clinical data are for the clinical situation.

The aim of this meeting is to update pharmacists, medical doctors, and scientists interested in Pharmacology on progress made in the field. Each year, the meeting covers a distinct topic. In 2016, the emerging field of "Personalized Medicine", also called "Precision Medicine" will be discussed. Personalized Medicine is a new approach with the goal to predict how a patient is going to respond to a specific treatment. New technologies, such as the "omics" techniques, provide us the tools to determine the individual variability of genes and environmental exposures that are both crucial factors in the pathogenesis of diseases. Leading scientists will provide an overview of the field as well as the latest insights that have already made the transition into clinical medicine. The Symposium will be held in German and French.

Systems toxicology is a paradigm shift from empirical endpoints to modes of action and adverse outcome pathways. It integrates in vitro and in  vivo toxicity data with computational modeling. Building on the highly successful 2013 Systems Toxicology conference in Ascona, the 2016 meeting explores current and likely future specific applications of systems toxicology approaches in chemical risk evaluation.

Drug resistance is emerging globally as a major public health and economic problem. It is both urgent and highly complex, affecting key aspects of human and animal health as well as agriculture and the environment in many interconnected ways. Whether they target pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, parasites or their vectors, few drugs exist today, for which resistance has not already been documented. Join health professionals, researchers and students in a two-day multidisciplinary symposium bringing together national and international experts from a variety of fields to examine and discuss the central aspects of drug resistance, ranging from the molecular and evolutionary mechanisms of resistance to the clinical, epidemiological and economic implications.
