Dr Jonathan Blum

Postdoctoral Fellow

Jonathan Blum holds a M.Sc. in Disease Biology and earned his Ph.D. at the Chair of In Vitro Toxicology and Biomedicine at the University of Konstanz, Germany, in the research group of Prof. M. Leist. During his doctoral research, he advanced stem cell-based New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for neurotoxicity assessment, with particular expertise in developmental neurotoxicity (DNT). He contributed to international European projects and IATA case studies focused on multi-NAM data integration and was a key contributor to the establishment of the DNT in vitro test battery. In January 2025, Jonathan joined SCAHT.

At SCAHT, his work focuses on facilitating the regulatory uptake and impact of NAMs in neurotoxicity assessment. A central component of his work involves applying Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs) to bridge NAM-generated data and regulatory decision-making. He serves as a task leader within the European PARC project and leads the project management of NAM4NT, which investigates the potential of NAMs to support the establishment of a future neurotoxicity hazard class.
